How do i stop my SUPER CLINGY boyfriend 2 stop being so cling with out brakeing up with him?

my boyfriend is super sweet an he 4gives me 4 anything. he puts his arms around me in cl an he shows his so called "love" 4 me in public i hav told him time an time again i don't like that. so he'll stop 4 a day or 2 ten start back up all over again. when im in a uber bad mood he seems 2 be even more clingy an set out 2 make me feel better... when really all i want him 2 do is leave me alone!!! when we are alone its all fine an dandy but he tries 2 hold my hand in front of are parents and that 2 me is inappropriate. i love him i really do but some times i feel that i need my space. when i tell him i need my space i sure that he may think that i don't want him to hold me at all... what do i do??? help me?!?!??!!?!
