How does the Bible achieve credibility with its followers when it starts off contradicting science...?

The bible is not intended as a scientific journal and therefore not credible source of scientific truth. The bible is a source of transcendent truth about eternity or a world outside of our own, and about the nature of God and His revelations which the church through the authority given by Jesus, can interpret correctly the divine truth in the bible.
