Question about viewing pics that are on CD?

A photographer took pics of my brother's wedding. She copyrighted them, but then sold my mother a CD of the pics which plainly says copyright released. When I insert the disk into my hard drive it does nothing. My mother had the same thing on her computer. When she took the disks to Walgreen's and put them in the picture maker, they came right up. Can someone help me so that I can view these on my home PC? Thanks!
